After much discussion and thought, the board of the Seattle Scottish Highland Games Association has come to the decision that we will be cancelling the 74th Annual Pacific Northwest Scottish Highland Games and Clan Gathering that was to have been held the weekend of July 24th, 25th & 26th in Enumclaw, WA. This has been a very difficult decision for us and is probably an unfortunate and disappointing but somewhat expected announcement for you all. We have all been keeping up with the daily news updates regarding the status of Covid-19 in our area and the restrictions that go along with it in the hopes that things would come around and allow us to hold an event that is so important to us. But with all of the uncertainty surrounding us right now, let alone 4 months in the future, we just can’t see a way forward at this time. The games weekend is a very big task that takes a lot of people working in conjunction with each other to pull off and we have to accept the reality that it is just not going to be feasible for 2020.
For those of you who have pre-purchased tickets to the games in Enumclaw through Eventbrite, you will be issued refunds.
No one is happy about having come to this point but we have to take into consideration the health and well-being of everyone that is part of our games. Our competitors, members, attendees and volunteers need to be concentrating on staying safe and getting through these tough times. Family and friends come first. I have been attending these games for over 20 years in a row and that number is easily dwarfed by quite a few of our board members so we know how hard this is to accept. Every year we all look forward to the games in Enumclaw, or “The Claw” as our Heavy Events competitors like to refer to it. We will be preparing now for the 2021 games instead and hope that you all look forward to that as much as we are. Absence makes the heart grow fonder right? Let’s plan on making 2021 a year to remember for our games!
